Wife Knew He Was Gay

Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey's wife, Matos McGreevey, apparently knew that her husband was gay well before he made it public in a press conference in August 2004, according to a report published today in the New York Post.

Until now both McGreeveys have maintained that Matos found out about her husband's sexual orientation the same day he announced it to the press in a press conference. But according to several anonymous sources in the New York Post, Matos was aware of the fact that her husband was gay before his public announcement.

McGreevey left office in November 2004 after he admitted to having an affair with a male employee. Matos filed for divorce in February 2005, and a fight for custody and visitation rights for their 5-year-old daughter Jacqueline ensued.
