AFI has new 100 greatest movies

AFI has new 100 greatest movies list

Film organization rewrites history

'Raging Bull' moved up to the No. 4 spot from No. 24 in 1996 in the lastest American Film Institute list of the 100 greatest movies of all time.

The film organization returned with a new version of its "100 Greatest Movies of All Time" countdown last night on CBS and tallied up the votes ... again. And while there were some notable changes from the group's 1996 poll, "Citizen Kane" was still No. 1 and eight original titles remained in the top 10.

As with '96, the first time the AFI unveiled its choices, ballots with nominated movies were distributed to a pool of creatives (directors, screenwriters, actors, editors and cinematographers), critics and historians.

"The Godfather" and "Casablanca" were runners-up (the two swapped positions from a decade ago). But "Raging Bull" moved into the fourth position (from No. 24 in '96), ahead of previous spot-holder "Gone With the Wind."
