Hip-hop artist Chingo Bling arrives at Graham Central Station

Chingo Bling is performing tonight with Pitbull and others at Graham Central Station in Pharr.
At the height of the great immigration debate, Chingo BlingÕs most recent album, ÒThey CanÕt Deport Us All,Ó came at a very opportune time.

The Houston-bred rapper and son of Mexican immigrants is quite passionate about giving a voice to the struggles of those who have come to this country in search of a better life. Certainly heÕs not wearing a coat and tie and lobbying in the nationÕs capital but Chingo, born Pedro Herrera III, is using his newfound fame to let the public know Hispanics, legal or not, arenÕt going anywhere any time soon.

ÒI do this because itÕs my duty to represent Mexican-Americans, thatÕs how I choose to be,Ó said the Tamale Kingpin in an interview with The Monitor. ÒI do get comments from parents and grandparents that say, ÔWe donÕt know what youÕre saying in your songs, but my son wants to put on cowboy boots and hats and know more about the culture.ÕÓ
