drunken sex scandal

The female Labor MP dumped to make way for ACTU Secretary Greg Combet has admitted to what she describes as a "regrettable' incident with a Commonwealth car driver.

Kelly Hoare was dumped as a Labor candidate for the Newcastle-based seat of Charlton at the weekend to make way for Mr Combet.

Newspaper reports have accused her of drunkenly propositioning a Commonwealth car driver for sex.

Ms Hoare has now admitted to what she calls a "regrettable incident" in which she was involved which was reported to both the Opposition leader and the Special Minister of state.

She says she has been advised no further action will be taken over the incident and she is now attending counselling services and undertaking medical treatment.
